Ever since the Jets traded Ladd to the Blackhawks, they have left everybody wondering who will be their next captain. There are some obvious options, such as, Dustin Byfuglien, Blake Wheeler, Bryan Little, Mark Scheifele, etc. Here are some reasons why or why not they should be captain.
Dustin Byfuglien

Sure, Byfuglien is a great guy, he stood up to Kane and is great to the Jets, and the city of Winnipeg. His only problem is that he isn’t really the guy who goes out of his way to talk to the media, like you’re supposed to, and he doesn’t exactly want all of that attention.
Blake Wheeler
Wheeler is probably the best option as of now, because he’s willing to go out there, and talk to the media. The only problem is that, if in the future they may want to give the captaincy to a younger player, and they would have to take the C away from Wheeler. I doubt he would be to happy about that.
Brian Little
He could be a good captain, but if they were to pick a vet as a captain, it would be Wheeler. He also has the exact same problem as Wheeler.

Mark Scheifele

Scheifele could be a great option as a captain, because he has leadership, is a hard worker, and can talk to the media with no problems, and is a likeable guy. His only downside is that he may be a little bit young to take on the role as a captain.

Patrik Laine
Laine has the confidence that a captain needs, but may be just a little too confident. He is also probably a little too young to take on that role as well.

Tyler Myers
Myers is a great guy, and could be a captain, but I just don’t see it happening. What I could see, is him becoming an assistant captain.
I have another theory that they will only assign someone as another assistant, and when they’re ready, they’ll make that person the captain.

Whoever they choose, they will choose him for a good reason.
