News on Logan Stanley

Some big, and bad news today for Winnipeg Jets defending prospect, Logan Stanley who just got cut from Team Canada at the World Juniors. Canada just cut six players, one of whom is Logan Stanley. By doing this, they reduced their team down to 27 players. Canada will have to have their roster cut down once again in the next few weeks to the 23 players that will play for Team Canada.

Stanley has spent this season on the Kitchener Rangers, and has put up a solid total of seven goals, 18 assists, and 25 points in only 30 games. The big, 6’7″ defender is a plus 2, and has accumulated a grand total of 58 penalty minutes.

When the Jets just picked Stanley, he played in their rookie camp which I was able to go watch. I felt like he was a big guy with lots of potential, but needed to develop a lot before he could become a solid player in the Jets lineup. He was almost impossible to get by, and would play very physical. He had a booming shot like most big defensemen. His issue was that’s he needed lots of work on his offensive game. When heading up ice, he wouldn’t make the best decisions, but I believe that can be fixed with more experience.

Rumours and talk on Michael Hutchinson

After it was announced that the Winnipeg Jets had been taking calls on Hutchinson, and that the Oilers were the main suitor, talk on him has really died down. After seeing  articles about the Panthers making sense for Hutch, I did some digging. I found that the Panthers could also be in on the Hutchinson sweepstakes.

Another team that came up was Vegas. To be quite honest, I think trading for Hutchinson would be a poor decision. Sure, Vegas took a huge hit with having something like four goalies injured all at once. You also have to realize that, yes it happened, but will it happen again this season? Not likely. I have to say it was quite the fluke, and I don’t think they would be a suitor for Hutch. People should shut down any thought of Michael Hutchinson becoming a Golden Knight.
