As I predicted, a very exciting game in Philips Arena tonight! Sopel started the game with his first goal. The first period was not too eventful, the second period reminded us how much Malkin loves to play the Thrashers when he scored to tie the game over halfway through the period. The most exciting moments of the period were the final 3 seconds of the period where tempers flew, helmets flew, fists flew, sticks went the wrong way and all of the Refs earned their keep.
Dustin Byfuglien = Captain.
Coming into the third with a full power play, it was disappointing to see us not capitalize on it. It was disappointing to see, how relying on the power play goal for so many games, we went 0/5 in tonight’s game. Just one of those goals scored and we could have taken it into OT. But, we are a learning team. We worked hard tonight.
Dustin Byfuglien = Captain.
Was hoping for more from Thorburn. Man, Malkin is like Stamkos, unstoppable when it comes to the Thrashers. Pavelec pulled for the extra man advantage, with hardly any time left in the game and Malkin trying to get a breakaway, Enstrom lands the perfect hit, knocking that train completely off track. Unfortunately, it only took that train moments to be back on his skates and he scores the empty netter to seal the deal on the game and making it rain hats in Philips Arena.
It was an amazing game. The Thrashers made another 30+ shots on goal. Tonight, the power play was nothing. Bryan Little wasn’t only back, but he was back and ready to go. I was really hoping for a comeback goal, and the way he played, so was he.
Dustin Byfuglien was awesome. There wasn’t a force I saw stronger on the ice. There was a lot of action tonight. There were a lot of team players, but, man, #33 leads them all.
Now we are on to Washington. Washington who, just moments ago, lost their first game in 7.
