Oh my Birds!

I always thought that the early bird was the one who got the worm  but it seems, more often than not,

we get the first nibble and just can’t pull that thing out of the ground.

Oh my birds! WHAT HAPPENED?!?!? This was not the same team that played against the Capitals just the other night. Is it something in Atlanta? Is the polluted cloud of fumes lurking over the arena seeping into the walls and causing us to completely choke up and fail at every chance we get? That can’t be it, because we just beat the Wild here. A refreshing change of events that was to hopefully elevate our play, but good GOD! WHAT HAPPENED??

I cannot explain the disappointment in such a key moment, when losing one of our star players, the one who will do whatever it takes to turn the game around, and instead of rising to the challenge, we practically exhaust our goalie by skaking circles around the Panthers in our own net. This is the way we are going to start our home stand?

It is bad enough that your head coach needs to stop you during shoot out drills to remind you the purpose of a shoot out…to score goals. It is absurd to have your coach believing as an entire team you have already quit playing and it isn’t even the final 20 minutes.

It was refreshing to see both Eager and Slater get benched, but honestly, they are not the only ones who needed to take a seat. There are far too many people on that ice not giving it everything they have. Maybe Ramsay should consider switching half the team with the Wolves for a bit…see if that wakes anyone up. I am done counting the total number of shots. The fact that we ended yet another game with more shots on goal does nothing. For a bit, that was the only thread of hope I was hanging onto, but it is almost Thanksgiving, start scoring some goals. THAT is where it really matters. And that is where we are failing the most. The past few games we haven’t even been on point with our power plays, which was the only thing we could really depend on.

The last home stretch, there were a few scouts in the stands. I refused to believe that the team was playing as well as they were because of that. Prove me wrong boys.

We now sit in 4th place. EVERY other team in our division won their game last night, Florida now closing the gap from 4th to last by 1 point. Tomorrow we play Washington…I don’t even know what to think at this point.
