I like how, if you copy and paste it (as I did above to make sure it didn’t change before you got to see it), it reads “Top Headlines/ NHL Gifts” I do believe the Atlanta Thrashers have turned into quite the gift to start this holiday season.
As much as I do not like the “Ex”, after his horrible shoot out attempt and then coming back with the shoot out win the next game, he said something that has stuck with me and actually gave me back a little piece of that respect I once thought I had for him. He said something along the lines of “Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you can start to climb back out again.” I think I said something to that effect in the beginning of the season, about climbing out of a pit…and on November 17, I heard those words again. The first game of what would be our longest home stretch and there was not a single good thing to say. In my mind, I re-played all the pep talks, the “I believe” speeches in my head. And there I stood, for the first time in decades, calling myself a fool for believing in one of my Atlanta teams. And I wasn’t alone.
Ironically, in searching back through history, it was November, 1864, during Sherman’s march to the sea that his orders were given to burn the city of Atlanta. “While setting out for Savannah that same day Sherman stated, “Behind us lay Atlanta smoldering and in ruins, the black smoke rising high in the air and hanging like a ball over the ruined city.”
On Friday, November 19, the Thrashers again welcomed the Washington Capitals, who we beat in game 1 of the season. After what, in my personal opinion, was the worst game I could witness, we had to follow it up with the conference leading Caps. And we won. We brought in the Isles and, though we went to overtime, we secured 2 more points and a 2nd win in a row. Fans (i.e . ME) were going crazy! Next we had the conference leading Red Wings (thank you again hubby for that AWESOME surprise) and, in what looked like our best performance ever, we stopped their winning streak with a 5 to 1 win. We have now won 3 out of our last 4 home games and will next be hosting the Canadians who are leading their division. AND WE SHUT THEM OUT! Giving Ondrej Pavelec the most consecutive wins with 1 goal or less scored in Thrasher history.

Ok – I will admit. At this point, it is pretty hard not to be just completely Thrasher crazy. Especially considering I was spending my holiday in Tampa!

We have taken a lot of smack out there in Blueland. Always. This year, no one believed in us. And here we are, not just holding our own against the top in the league, but making THEM take notes. Tonight we played the Bruins. Hoping that we would get to have Pavs against Thomas, instead the Bruins gave him the night off. That’s ok though, we still held our team together. Scoring 3 goals in the first period, the Thrashers dominated where it mattered most.
Byfuglien, WOW.
You will never cease to wow me; 4 points tonight, the highest overall points for a defensive player. We have the next two days off and then will head to Colorado for the meeting of the brothers. The last time Stewart was challenged regarding his brother, he scored a hat trick. Let’s see if we can’t get something of the same come Tuesday night.

Too Many men!
