The New York Islanders travel to Winnipeg to try to keep their momentum going after defeating the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. Â Tuesday will also mark the Islanders first trip to Winnipeg since March 9, 1996.
The Islanders were able to escape with a win Saturday by peppering Minnesota’s goalie with shots all night.  The game would be decided in a shootout.  The Islanders, 5-3-2 in their last 10, will look to slow the momentum of the Jets, 6-4-0 in their last 10.  The Jets have only tasted defeat one time in the month of December.
Winnipeg currently sits in 9th place in the Eastern Confernce, 1 point shy out of eighth place trailing the Leafs by 1 point. Â The New York Islander find themselves fermenting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference tied with Carolina.
