The Colorado Avalanche came into Tuesday nights game holding an 8 game home win streak.  At the final horn, that win streak would be reset to 0.  Evander Kane entered the game on a 7 game goal drought.  The Jets, coming off a loss last Friday against the Penguins, looked to get back into the playoff hunt.  Kane would snap his goal drought late in the first on a 2-1 breakout.  Kane carried the puck down the left side boards and waited for Giguere to slide to his left before he wristed a shot into net at the 16:37 mark of the first period.

Early in the 2nd period Tim Stapleton would score his 5th goal of the season when he cleaned up a loose puck at the 1:21 mark.  Stapleton was at the right place at the right time.  Cody McLeod dropped the gloves with Mark Stuart in the second to ignite his team.  The only thing it ignited was Evander Kane.  Kane broke loose at the red line and had a clear path on Avalanche goaltender Giguere.  Giguere padded the puck to his left where Kane won the scrum for the puck.  Kane was able to get the puck to Chris Thorburn behind the net.  Kane then preceded to embarrass the Av’s when he slipped behind the defense and was left alone to wrist in his 2nd goal of the night, pushing his total goals of the season to 17.

Jim Slater would extend the Jet’s lead to 3 at the 3:41 mark of the third period.  Slater would skate off the ice slowly after scoring with an upper body injury.  The Winnipeg Jets received another Pavelec padlock game.  Pavelec had his shutout bid broken late in the 3rd period when Kevin Porter scored on what looked like an accidental 5 hole goal.  Pavelec fought off 31-32 shots on the night.  Winnipeg had 26 shots on net for the night.

Winnipeg returns to action Thursday night at 7:30 when they will take on the Los Angeles Kings.  As always follow me on Twitter at Southerndraw81.  Fly High!
