Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler has been named to the US Olympic team in Sochi. Wheeler has 15 goals for the Jets this year along with 16 assists for 31 points in 42 games.

Wheeler was at the 2011 World Championships and was on the 2006 World Junior team for the US.

Wheeler is the third highest scoring American over the last 3 seasons in the NHL. His speed on the big ice surface could be huge for the US team going into the Olympics.

Wheeler is from Robbinsdale, Minnesota and was drafted in the 1st round 5th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 entry draft. He started his career with the Boston Bruins where he stayed for 3 seasons and was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers late in 2011 when the Bruins won the Stanley Cup.
