The Winnipeg Jets have once again called up forward Patrice Cormier from their affiliate AHL club, St. John’s IceCaps. With this move, Cormier will join recently called up IceCaps teammate Michael Hutchinson on the Jets.

Currently the Jets are on a six game losing streak and they are looking for anything to add a spark to their team. What was once a team with playoff aspirations, is now a team desperately looking for a win. Has the lack of movement on trade deadline caught up to the Jets? I don’t think it has, Winnipeg has a strong farm team and we have a long line of great prospects.

Bringing in Patrice Cormier will add another checking line center that should help with intensity and toughness. This season with the IceCaps, Cormier has appeared in 54 games while collecting 21 points (6G, 15A) and 89 penalty minutes.

Originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils, Patrice Cormier has played in 40 NHL games for the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise, in that time tallying two points (1G, 1A). Last season with the Jets, Cormier had seven penalty minutes in five games.

The Winnipeg Jets will play their first of back to back games Sunday night at home vs. Dallas, then they are on the road for a game Monday in St. Louis.
