The Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes will meet for their second and final time this year at the MTS Center for a 6 o clock puck drop.

Winnipeg beat Carolina 2-1 at home on February 4th, in the first meeting between the two teams since the re-alignment. Chris Thorburn scored his second goal of the year at 18:57 of the third period to give the Jets the victory.

With an abundance of players on the injured list, Winnipeg will once again be asking the IceCap’s players to step up in tonight’s game. Al Montoya will get his fourth start in net, likely going against Cam Ward of the Hurricanes.

Both teams are currently trying to make a playoff push. Winnipeg is 6 points back of Phoenix with a game in hand, while Carolina is tied in games with Columbus but has nine points to make up if they want to be in the post season.

The Hurricanes are playing in their third game of a three game road trip that they went 1-1 on. Carolina lost to Chicago last night which might factor into today’s game. Anton Khudobin made 22 saves for the Hurricanes but it wasn’t enough as Chicago took the game 3-2 on a goal from Jonathon Toews.

Benefiting from rest, the Winnipeg Jets haven’t played since their last game on the 19th. Winnipeg won 5-4 over Colorado and will want to start a win streak of their own right now. Al Montoya gets his fourth start in net. Montoya has been solid, same can be said for the call ups for the IceCaps. Eric Tangradi scored an easy goal on a beautiful pass from Blake Wheeler in last game vs the Avalanche.

My Prediction: After beating a very tough Colorado Avalanche team, I think Winnipeg will win another close game 3-2. Nothing comes easy this time of the season and it could go to overtime. These two teams are fairly evenly matched, I think we should have a beauty Saturday night.
