It seems like just yesterday that the Winnipeg Jets fired coach Noel and replaced him with Coach Maurice. What a huge difference the coach made when he first arrived! The Jets started winning games they usually lost and they were doing things defensively that no one had seen during the Noel era.
The Jets were finding ways to win and pick up points on a nightly basis. It was like a tidal wave was beginning and the Jets were going to ride that wave right to an unexpected playoff birth. The Jets even got to within a couple of points of the 8th seed in the mighty Western Conference.
One unfortunate thing happened to the Jets playoff push and that was the Olympic break. The Jets lost something during the break and the one goal games they were winning they again were losing just as if Noel was still behind the bench.
There are of course plenty of posts out there saying the playoffs are still possible and everyone wants Maurice back, but is that really the case. It is an extreme longshot now to make the playoffs with probably winning out the only chance so did the coaching change really mix up anything?
So what do you think is the honeymoon period over for Maurice? Is it like most people after a year of marriage looking over and saying Yeah this isn’t going to work long-term?
