The Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins finish up their two-game season series on Thursday night at the MTS Centre, after a first game that saw 11 goals and a Pittsburgh win at home on January 5th.

The Jets return home after 5 out of 10 points on a nine-day road trip, while the Penguins kick off a three-game road trip with the match-up.
Winnipeg will start Ondrej Pavelec, while the Penguins are expected to counter with back-up rookie goaltender Jeff Zatkoff.
Both teams have extensive injury lists; Winnipeg is missing Mark Scheifele, James Wright, Chris Thorburn, Zach Bogosian, Al Montoya, and Keaton Ellerby, while the Penguins are without Evgeni Malkin, Pascal Dupuis, Chris Conner, Kris Letang, Marcel Goc, and Joe Vitale. Paul Martin could make his return to the Pens’ lineup in the game, after breaking his hand in the Olympics.

My Prediction: The Jets take advantage of a beat-up Pens team, and use the home crowd to drive them to a 5-3 empty-net win. Wheeler, Enstrom, O’Dell, Ladd, and Byfuglien score for Winnipeg. Pavelec makes 30 saves.
