Winnipeg Jets’ Jacob Trouba Playing At The World Championships For The US

Winnipeg Jets’ defenceman Jacob Trouba will play for the United States at this year’s World Championships in Belarus this spring. The tournament get’s under way May 9th. Trouba’s addition is a huge accomplishment considering this is just his rookie season with the Jets. Trouba played in 65 games scoring 10 goals and adding 19 assists and was a plus 4 with 43 minutes in penalties. The 20 year old had showed an interest in playing in the tournament after the Jets’ final regular season game.
Jets’ goaltender prospect Connor Hellebuyck will be representing the United States in the tournament as well. Hellebuyck, also 20 years old, played for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell this past season recording a record of 18-9-2, 1.79 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. Hellebuyck also won the inaugural Mike Richter award as top goaltender in the NCAA this season. Hellebuyck signed his first pro contract with the Jets in early April.
