Winnipeg Jets’ Prospect Jerome Samson Named AHL Player Of The Week

The Winnipeg Jets’ season has been over for more than a week, but the show goes on in the AHL, with the St. John’s Ice Caps. The Jets’ farm club received even more good news on Monday, with word that forward Jerome Samson has been named the AHL/CCM Player Of The Week.
Samson had an incredible seven points (2G, 5A) in the Ice Caps’ two wins over the Worcester Sharks and Portland Pirates last week. Samson provided four points against the Sharks, and followed up the next night with the game-winning goal in a 5-4 victory. He finished his season with 56 points (27G, 29A) in 68 games.
Samson, 26, was signed to a one-year deal with the Jets in the 2013 off-season, and is set to become an Unrestricted Free Agent again this summer. He had spent six year s in the Carolina Hurricanes organization prior to this season, playing 46 NHL games, and 376 at the AHL level.
The Ice Caps are set to take on the Albany Devils, Samson’s former team, in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs starting on Friday.
