  • This game was controlled by goaltenders Ondrej Pavelec and Andréi Vasilevsky for the first two periods. However, the scoring broke open in period three with 3 goals. Lightning RW Nikita Kucherov scored the first goal to break open the scoring. After that, Blake Wheeler and Drew Stafford tallied the last two goals to give Winnipeg the victory.

The critical point in the game occurred when Kucherov nailed Jets D Tobias Enstrom into the boards, leaving him hurt. The 8-year veteran would end up going to the dressing room for a while. Kucherov received 5 minutes for boarding and a game misconduct. A suspension for the hit is a possibility. However, Enstrom would end up returning to the game later in the period.

Following the hit, Jets D Jacob Trouba tried standing up for Enstrom, but received two minutes for roughing and a 10-minute game misconduct. Lightning C Tyler Johnson received the same penalties.

With this victory, the Jets ended their 2-game skid and kept their wild card spot. The Lightning will fall another 2 points behind the Montreal Canadiens, thanks to their victory over the New York Islanders.
