During Saturday night’s game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Winnipeg Jets, F Nikita Kucherov hit D Tobias Enstrom hard into the boards. This resulted in the Russian forward receiving a boarding penalty and game misconduct.

It has been two days since the incident and according to the Tampa Bay Times, Kucherov has not received any message from the NHL. This means that he likely will not face discipline for the hit. He will not even have a hearing.

In describing the hit, Kucherov said “It was an awkward spot. I don’t think I could have done something else there. It just happens. I didn’t mean it, it was an accident.”

A reason for Kucherov not receiving discipline could be that Enstrom ended up returning to the game after the hit. If the Swedish defenseman never returned, maybe this would be a different story.
