Preview
The Winnipeg Jets had their 5-game winning streak snapped by the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The final score was 5-2, by far the most goals the Jets had given up in a while.
Since goalie Michael Hutchison continued his struggles during the last game, the Jets are likely to turn back to Ondrej Pavelec. He started every game during the 5-game winning streak, but was benched Tuesday because it was a back-to-back. Based on the report from Illegal Curve, he seems set to start.
However, the big news of the day is that F/D Dustin Byfuglien will return for tonight’s game, according to CBC.
"Jets’ coach Paul Maurice announced Thursday morning Byfuglien will be in the lineup against Montreal. Andrew Ladd, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers didn’t skate this morning, but will also play tonight.Bryan Little, Mathieu Perreault and Ben Chiarot won’t play against Montreal. Maurice said those three could be added to the lineup in the next two games, but he hopes they’re all ready by April 4."
This is obviously great for Winnipeg, as they have dealt with plenty of injuries over the past few weeks. Next up will hopefully be Bryan Little return.
The Jets will get a break tonight with the opposition, as goalie Dustin Tokarski will get the starts for the Habs. Usual starter Carey Price has been dominate this year (1.88 GAA, .937 SV%), but will be taking a seat tonight.
Even with Price out, the Jets still need to control the likes of P.K. Subban, 35-goal scorer Max Pacioretty and Andrei Markov.
