On February 11, the Winnipeg Jets acquired forward Brendan Lemieux from the Buffalo Sabres along with D Tyler Myers, F Drew Stafford, F Joel Armia and a 1st round pick for F Evander Kane, D Zach Bogosian and G Jason Kasdorf.
Lemieux was not even with the Buffalo Sabres for a year, as he was just drafted in 2014 as the 31st overall pick (2nd round).
At the moment, the Denver native is still in juniors with the Barrie Colts. However, he has had a nice season with 41 goals and 19 assists in 57 games. For the fantasy junkies, he has 145 penalty minutes (same total as 2013-14).
Lemieux, 19, uses his 6′ 1” frame for very physical play and to work his way in for goals. The 41 that he has this year is a good indication of that.
Next year should feature an AHL debut for Lemieux, where he could use a year or two at. He should project as a 2nd or 3rd line player.
