The Winnipeg Jets have a stacked prospect system. We already looked at Nikolaj Ehlers, Joel Armia, Josh Morrissey and Brendan Lemieux. Now we are going to take a look at Nicolas Petan.

The Jets drafted Petan in 2013 with the 43rd overall pick (2nd round). The 20-year-old has spent the past four years in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winterhawks. In the most recent season in 2014-15, Petan totaled 15 goals and 74 assists (89 points) in 54 games. The assist total is among the best in the WHL.

At just 5′ 9”, Petan is very small for an NHL player. However, his excellent play-making and skating skills should be enough for him to make an impact in the league. He is as a two-way forward who could play on the 2nd line in the future. Petan being a two-way player is a surprise, given his size. If he can be physical at the NHL level, the Jets would not mind.
