We’re still a little ways from the start of the NHL regular season but the MTS Centre, the home of the Winnipeg Jets and a million other things, is undergoing some cosmetic changes and the Jets twitter account has given us a sneak preview of one of the more awaited upgrades.

I don’t want to insult the old scoreclock, which I’m sure was an expensive piece of electronic equipment, but it was sort of poststampish. The Winnipeg Jets say when assembled, the new screens will be two and a half times bigger than the old ones with three times the resolution, which will give Jets fans the opportunity to really scrutinize nice goals and whatever-the-heck Ondrej Pavelec just let in.
The MTS Centre is also putting a higher quality power ring around the rink which they say will be twice the resolution as the old one, along with enhancements to the graphics, audio, and cameras around the arena. I haven’t been to enough NHL rinks around the continent to put much emphasis behind this comment, but the arenas I have been to with the bigger graphics and louder music certainly provide a better game day experience.
You can see the full list of changes here, including some additional seating being put in, but one that I’m certainly excited about (along with everyone else who frequents the 300 level) will be the addition of seamless glass up there.
