Today we visit the 9th spot on our list of the best Winnipeg Jets prospects in that of Andrew Copp. If you don’t know who Andrew Copp is then it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the article as we explore just what makes Copp appear at 9th on our list of Jets prospects.

Andrew Copp was drafted during the 4th round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft at 104th overall. Copp plays at the Center position, shoots with his left hand and towers at around six feet/203 pounds. During his high school career it can be noted that Copp played football, playing at the Quarterback position and putting up more then solid numbers, in fact he set a passing record of 557 yards for his state (Michigan) in 2011.

Copp has played his last three seasons at the University of Michigan and recently decided to forgo his senior season and sign a three-year entry level contract to play with the Winnipeg Jets. During his career at the University of Michigan (three years) Copp has went 40-41-81 in over 107 games played. Copp actually has some experience in international play in the 2012 Under-18 World Championships and won first place at the 2011 Vlad Dzurilla tournament in Slovakia.

Two very interesting aspects about Copp’s play is the fact he procures few penalty minutes and has never finished with a plus/minus rating that was not positive (two very valuable traits that any hockey player may carry). During his last three seasons with Michigan he has procured only 26 penalty minutes in 107 games played and a plus/minus of +11.

The University of Michigan has published a bit of a mini-bio about Andrew Copp online, click here to learn more about who Andrew Copp is and what he could bring to the Winnipeg Jets.

The Michigan daily recently reported that Copp will be playing in games this upcoming NHL season with the Jets, rejoining his former teammate Jacob Trouba in the Jets sweater. What do you guys think?
