Winnipeg Jets Monday News

Mondays cannot be all that bad when you are reading some good news about the Winnipeg Jets. I was browsing the web today and I discovered some interesting articles that may peak your interest this Monday. Hopefully your Monday can be made better with news of the Tulsa Oilers and Jets coming to an affiliation agreement and a rumor about a certain Stanley Cup winning goaltender jetting to Winnipeg!

Before we get to the part of this article you’re probably looking forward to the most we have to start out with our meal before we get to have our dessert.

The Tulsa Oilers (ECHL) have announced (Friday) that they will enter into an affiliation agreement with the Winnipeg Jets for the 2015-2016 season. This affiliation is not just exclusive to the Winnipeg Jets, as it extends to the Jets’ AHL affiliate in the Manitoba Moose.

Taylor Hall (not the Edmonton Oiler) is the GM of the Tulsa Oilers and had this to say about the affiliation in 2015-2016,

“We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with the Jets and the Moose. Both teams are first-class organizations that share our commitment to winning and not only is this an exciting day for our fans, but our players who want to succeed at the next level.” -Taylor Hall

In an article by the Hockey Press on Saturday it was reported that Corey Crawford’s name has been coming up in trade rumors lately (he has won two Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks). The press reported that Winnipeg, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Detroit have all shown a genuine interest in the goaltender.

The press stated that of those 4 teams that the Jets are in the best position to acquire Crawford for they have the most to leverage (Ondrej Pavelec).

According to the press this trade makes sense for the Jets because,

“The Winnipeg Jets would acquire a former Stanley Cup champion. He is used to playing under pressure, and if the Jets had Crawford in net last year when they played the ducks we guarantee it wouldn’t have gone the same. The Jets would also be trading Pavelec when his trade value is at the highest point, he is only 27 years old.”  -The Hockey Press

It will probably not happen (Crawford to Winnipeg) but I thought it was interesting and thought the viewers at Hockey at the Forks may see some interest in the rumor.

What do you guys think about the Tulsa Oilers and Jets being affiliates for the upcoming season? Do you think the Crawford rumor holds solid ground or is just crazy? Comment below and join in on the discussion!
