Lets face it Winnipeg Jets fans, winter can be a bit of a grind. Hockey’s back, which is nice, but if you live in the Canadian prairies, your days can consist of scraping windshields, bundling up in parkas, and shoveling driveways.
Winter vacations can be an awesome way to break up the routine and for Jets fans, there are plenty of opportunities to plan your vacation around your favorite team. Not only do Jets fans travel incredibly well, but in some cases it might be easier/cheaper to acquire a ticket on the road than it is in the MTS Centre.
Here are three road trip ideas for this upcoming season.
1. “The Canadian” – November 1 @ Montreal, November 4 @ Toronto, November 5 @ Ottawa
They may be in the other conference but all-Canadian matchups are always fun for fans of those seven teams. Highlights of this trip include watching Hart Trophy winner Carey Hart at the Bell Centre and the Jets first look at the Maple Leafs under Mike Babcock. Of course, you could also cut down your travel time by skipping Toronto on this trip and enjoy Montreal for an extra day or two.

2. “The West Coast” – December 31 @ Arizona, January 2 @ San Jose, January 3 @ Anaheim
As many people will attest to, escaping -30 degree Celsius weather for the desert climate in Arizona in the middle of winter is wonderful. There is something enjoyable about enjoying a beverage outdoors in shorts before hopping into an NHL rink for those thinking of something different to do to ring in the New Year. Also, this trip will feature the first matchup between the Jets and Ducks since last year’s playoff series.
3. “Florida” – Feburary 18 @ Tampa Bay, Feburary 20 @ Florida
Take a half week off and head down to Florida in February, catching the defending Eastern Conference champion Lightning on a Thursday and while you’re there, you may as well stick around and catch the Panthers on Saturday night. Just as the previous trip, the weather will be a nice change-of-pace if you live north of the border and likely, plenty of snowbirds may be in the building to catch the game.
