The American Hockey League has released their 2015-16 regular season schedule today, including the 76 games for the Winnipeg Jets AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.
Here are a few highlights:
– The Moose open the season up on the road against the Toronto Marlies. The first game will be on Friday, October 9 and will play the follow Saturday in the afternoon against the Marlies.
– Manitoba’s first game back at the MTS Centre since May 6, 2011 will be on October 15 against the Ontario Reign, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. That will kick off a four game home-stand.

– The longest home-stand for the Moose will be eight games, starting on New Year’s Eve (with the return of the New Year’s Eve afternoon game) and ending on January 13. The home-stand coincides with a five game road trip for the Winnipeg Jets on the west coast.
– Speaking of the Jets, the Moose and Jets will not play on the same day inside the MTS Centre. The Moose do play inside the Phone Booth while the Jets are on the road a handful of times, so those games might be tough sells for Jets fans likely more content to watch the NHL club on TV.
– The schedule is filled with AHL-style doubleheaders and the Moose only play 13 other teams. Notable absences are two of the new west coast teams (San Diego and San Jose) and the Jets’ former affiliate, the St. John’s Ice Caps, who are now affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens.
The average ticket price for the Manitoba Moose is under 20 dollars, making it a cheaper option than the Jets. The Moose gave the hockey-starved Winnipeg a suitable alternative while the city prayed from the big leagues to return and they had some awesome moments as well. It will be nice having the Jets top farm team and many exciting prospects in town to watch develop.
