Winnipeg Jets: News From Around Hockey at the Forks
We have had several exciting articles appear on Hockey at the Forks in the last couple of weeks, so today I thought it was fitting to explore those extraordinary articles about your Winnipeg Jets. From Halak V. Pavelec to the future of Dustin Byfuglien, we have you covered with all your Winnipeg Jets news here at Hockey at the Forks!
Earlier this week Brendan Macgranachan posted an article about Dustin Byfuglien and how the Jets need to decide his fate,
“I’m as big of a fan as Byfuglien as a lot of Jets fans. He brings a skill set to the table that very few guys in the league (if any) can bring. Sure, it has its drawbacks at times, but he’s a dynamic player that would make many teams better.” -Brendan Macgranachan

Yours truly (Andrei Lutz) started a countdown several weeks ago about the top goaltenders in the NHL and how they compare to the Jets goaltenders. Number 9 and 8 were revealed over the course of the past week, with number nine being,
“Jaroslav Halak has been around for a while. Many still may remember him from his 8th seeded playoff run with the Montreal Canadians and some might remember him from the deadly duo in St. Louis with Brian Elliott. Regardless of what Halak has done with other teams, his term with the Islanders has proven to be just as explosive as anything he has done in the past.” -Andrei Lutz

Earlier in the week Brendan Macgranachan posted an article about changes to the Jets scouting staff. What were these changes?
“The biggest change will be Mark Hillier taking over as the Director of Amateur Scouting from Marcel Comeau. That’s been a position Comeau has held with the organization dating back to its years in Atlanta. Since 2003, Comeau’s drafts have been here and there but have generally gotten much better since the drafting team was the Winnipeg Jets, not the Atlanta Thrashers. He is remaining with the Jets as an amateur scout, taking a step back to spend more time with his family.” -Brendan Macgranachan

Lastly we had an article that we worked on with fellow Fansided and BleedinBlue editor Kate Cimini. We compared lines between the Blues offense/defense and the Jets offense/defense. Here’s a preview from our article on the Jets defensive lines V. the Blues defensive lines,
“I would place Byfuglien on Kevin Shattenkirk. Byfuglien is an intimindating and physical force who could shut down an offensive defenseman like Shattenkirk. Kevin is not very intimidating in size, so in the best interest of keeping him away from the puck you would put a force like Byfuglien on his tale no doubt.” -Andrei Lutz
