Winnipeg Jets Fly Over: September 17, 2015

There have been a few interesting tidbits coming out surrounding the Winnipeg Jets over the last few days as we head into training camp.

– Speaking of training camp, it is just one day away (!) and the Jets have released their camp roster and schedule. There aren’t really any surprises here as far as the roster goes, and we did touch on two of the players who got professional tryout offers last week. I’m a little surprised there aren’t a few more forwards in camp (only 30). The team also has 19 defenceman and six goaltenders to start things off on Friday.

– Andrew Copp is the front-runner for the fourth-line centre position heading into camp, as detailed by Ken Wiebe with the Winnipeg Sun.

– Camp for the most part is closed to the public, but for those in Winnipeg on Saturday, the Jets will be holding their annual FanFest at the MTS Iceplex from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., giving fans a chance to watch camp practices and a bunch of other stuff. The details on FanFest are here.

– Speaking of free things, the Jets have also released their promotional schedule for the upcoming season. A few items of note on there include the team’s annual Canadian Armed Forces Night and a Bryan Little bobblehead giveaway.

– One guy who is not going to be at Jets training camp is one of last year’s deadline acquisitions Jiri Tlusty. He has signed a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils.

– Finally, CTV Winnipeg has a look inside the MTS Centre after a summer full of renovations. The report shows the view from the new loge seating that has been installed inside the area as well as a look at the brand new scoreboard that hangs over centre ice, double the size of the old one.
