Winnipeg Jets have the Most Underrated NHL Players

WINNIPEG, MB - DECEMBER 14: Blake Wheeler
WINNIPEG, MB - DECEMBER 14: Blake Wheeler

Has it ever occurred to you how good of a player Blake Wheeler really is? Have you ever noticed that he’s in the top 5 in points? You probably haven’t unless you’re really looking all the time at the point leaders. It’s because the Winnipeg Jets aren’t talked about enough, therefore people think less of our players.

The Winnipeg Jets, are a top team in the NHL. We’re a young team with tons of potential and a cup likely coming soon. We have a team full of absolutely great players who aren’t given full credit for their skills. Guys like Josh Morrissey, Bryan Little, Joel Armia, and of course Blake Wheeler.

Josh Morrissey

Last night I was doing a lot of thinking about our defence core. I couldn’t quite get a grasp on why Morrissey isn’t thought to be as good as he truly is. Morrissey is now one of the best defenders on the Jets, and is quite reliable on the point. Morrissey was a first round pick for Winnipeg in 2013, and has proved us right. He’s going to be a key piece to our successful future and already is key to our success now.

Bryan Little

Bryan Little has had a little bit of a slower year in terms of point production. Sure he’s not putting up what he was last year, but Little is a great player. He’s had five goals, and 15 assists for 20 points in 35 games this season, which is fairly good any player. Wheeler’s a top player on the Jets, but there’s so many fans from other teams who’ve never heard of him. He’s only making an extremely affordable $4.7 Million a year. Some people may say that’s a lot for a guy they’ve barely heard of. I guarantee it’s worth it for a top player on the Winnipeg Jets.

Joel Armia

Joel Armia is one of the Jets best depth players. He was acquired via the trade that sent Evander Kane to Buffalo and brought us Tyler Myers. Armia wasn’t thought to be too big of a piece at first, but that has changed. Armia has become a gritty, hard working player who can even put up a few points. He’s a household name here in Winnipeg, but isn’t overly talked about on TV or anything like that. Many people don’t see him as a top player, but he really is in his own way.

Blake Wheeler

Blake Wheeler is one of the Jets top players and is arguably one of the elite players in this league. He’s always up there in scoring, and he’s leading the Jets to success. I don’t know how, but he’s never been an All Star. He was invited after a player got injured but declined. I can’t understand how a guy like that has never been picked, and was only invited because there was an injury.

Wheeler is the Winnipeg Jets captain, and he does a great job. He’s leading our team closer and closer to the playoffs every year. He’s got what it takes to get this team going deep in the next few years.
