Winnipeg Jets come out soaring, win 4-1 vs. San Jose
This afternoon, the Winnipeg Jets gave their fans a very entertaining game to watch. They took a big 4-1 home win against the Sharks.
The Winnipeg Jets were flying right out of the gates. Three shots in the first twenty-seven seconds. Wow. They could have had three goals there. Matt Hendricks dropped the gloves right away, in the first couple of seconds he was on the ice. He laid quite the beating on Brenden Dillon, with a mixture of rights and a few lefty’s.
We were hot of the start, and the fans were totally into it. However, we slowed down and let the Sharks get into it. It was a game with many opportunities from both the Winnipeg Jets and San Jose Sharks. The refs made some brutal calls on the Jets which brought the fans to rain boos on them. There was lots of missed calls, and even a few bad calls on San Jose.
White Out’s Three Stars
1. Matt Hendricks
Hendricks put on a great show tonight. He dropped the gloves and got the fans really into it. Not too long after getting out of the penalty box, Hendricks scored a nice goal off a breakaway. I was really hoping for a Gordie Howe hat-trick which didn’t end up happening. He was a standout, and delivered some huge hits that got the fans really loud. He was also awarded first star of the night, which is his second of the year.
2. Connor Hellebuyck
Hellebuyck was great today. He made some unreal saves, and only let in one goal on 32 shots. Hellebuyck has improved his game a ton this year, which has been a total game changer for the Jets. He put up a really nice .969 Save %, and has improved to 23 wins this season. His record is absolutely jaw dropping compared to what he did last season. He now has the second most wins, just behind Andrei Vasilevski.
3. Mathieu Perreault
Perreault was a big factor in this win. He had two goals, and many more scoring opportunities. Perreault was working hard right from the start, all the way to the end. Perreault wasn’t awarded a star of the game by the Jets, but I believe he deserved it more than Andrew Copp, not to say Copp wasn’t good either.
Next: Winnipeg Jets Buyer Beware: Robin Lehner
What’s next?
The Winnipeg Jets will once again take on the Buffalo Sabres on January 9th. The game will be at the Keybank Center in Buffalo. A win there will give us three consecutive wins.
