Andrew Copp is nearing a return to the Winnipeg Jets, after skating in a full contact practice. Copp should be back in the Jets lineup within the next handful of games.

After sustaining a concussion during a game against the Minnesota Wild, Andrew Copp has been out of the lineup for a week. The Winnipeg Jets will be getting their center back, after he skated in full contact practice today. He has been skating with the team before today, just as a limited participant in a non-contact jersey.

Andrew was asked about his injury and his recovery. This is what he had to say:

"“I’ve felt good probably the last four or five days now. I feel comfortable being ready to go. I put myself in a bad spot and luckily they changed that pole and little pad into curved glass there. That probably saved me from a bigger injury. It wasn’t as dirty as I thought it was, it really wasn’t that dirty at all. You make sure all your symptoms are gone, you’re doing the proper things, taking the proper vitamins, doing the proper exercises to get your brain going again and for the rest of your body to help along with that. You want to make real sure that all the symptoms are gone and you’re being completely honest with the doctors and you’re doing the test to the best of your ability. Not only now, but at the beginning of the year so you have a baseline, so they know what your brain is capable of processing at. Taking those seriously is honestly a really important thing”"

Obviously he took his recovery seriously. The 24 year old looks to get back to the ice and give us a boost in depth we’ve been lacking lately. Andrew Copp has one goal and two assists in 21 games on the fourth line with the Jets this season. He has struggled to find the same success he had last year, but will be coming back in hoping to change that.

Andrew was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Winnipeg took him all the way down in the fourth round, 104th overall. In the past four seasons, he has solidified his role as their fourth line centerman.

The Jets called up Mason Appleton in fear of another player going down with Copp already out. Appleton has yet to dree with the big squad and I’m not quite sure whether he will or not, for a while at least.

Next. It's time to bench Hellebuyck and let Laurent Brossoit take over. dark

Andrew Copp could sneak his way back into our lineup against New Jersey tomorrow, but nothing is sure. We’ll have to wait to see what Paul Maurice decides to do.
