In my eyes, Mark Scheifele is the best player on the Winnipeg Jets. He has the most all around skill and talent, but yet is barely given any recognition for being how good he is.

Two seasons ago, if you would’ve asked me who the NHL’s most underrated player was, I probably would’ve said Bryan Little to be completely honest. Now I think it’s Mark Scheifele. He’s easily the best player on the Winnipeg Jets, and a top ten player in the league.

The Winnipeg Jets drafted Mark Scheifele with their first pick ever as the Winnipeg Jets 2.0 in 2011, at seventh overall. Scheifele, well, he wasn’t very big at all. He came in for the first seven games of the season, scoring one goal before heading back to juniors. The next season, he managed a spot on the opening lineup. He didn’t last as long as the previous season however, taking four games to get sent back to the OHL.

Well, Scheifele has made it a long way from there. He’s a guy who can be relied on to get at least a point per game, plus he makes everyone around him better. He’s helped Winnipeg get to where we got last season and we are right now.

With today’s media directing most of the attention towards big city teams Toronto, it’s hard for a Jet to get attention outside of Winnipeg. I’m sure most fans at least know who he is, but I can almost guarantee they have no clue how good he truly is.

It’s not only Scheifele, many other Winnipeg Jets don’t receive the recognition they deserve. A prime example of this is Blake Wheeler not being selected to the NHL All Star Game for countless years, until finally he made it last season.

Both of Scheifele and Wheeler are over a point per game average, yet nothing is really ever said about them. (Unless it’s Winnipeg media, of course). Nobody’s talking about Scheifele’s 5 points in the last two games as well as 14 points in the last ten or Wheeler’s huge total of 33 assists.

dark. Next. The Winnipeg Jets need to make these three crucial moves as soon as possible

I just think these guys, as well as many other Jets players deserve more recognition for how good they are…
