The Winnipeg Jets have just announced they have signed forward Marko Dano. Here’s everything to know about Dano and his new contract.
The Winnipeg Jets just made an interesting depth signing this afternoon. The Jets have signed a player who has experience playing in Winnipeg. That player is Marko Dano.
Dano, who was born in Austria, but represents Slovakia on the international stage most recently played for the Jets in the 2017-2018 season. In 2018-2019 he had a brief stint with the Colorado Avalanche, but returned to the Jets organization and played 51 games in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose.
Dano’s new deal is just for the this upcoming season and is worth $700,000 at the NHL level. There is no announcement yet on how much the deal is worth at the AHL level.
One of the more interesting things about Dano is back in early October he signed a deal with HK Dukla who are a professional team in Slovakia. Many people thought he may just apply his trade in Europe this season, but that is clearly not the case. So far this season in the Tipos Extraliga, Dano has two goals and one assist in one game played.
Dano is coming to the Jets after spending last year with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. The twenty-five year old only appeared in three games with Columbus and did not register a point. He spent most of the year with the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL where he had 4 goals, 15 assists and 86 penalty minutes in 46 games.
Over his six year professional career in North America, Dano has appeared in 141 NHL games and 186 AHL games.
Dano is a nice veteran signing for the Winnipeg Jets. He can be a good option for the Jets to fill in if players get injured or need rest. Especially with the potential quick season, that may be on the horizon with many games in a short amount of time, Dano can become a major asset off the bench for the Jets.
