Winnipeg Jets Sign First Round Pick Cole Perfetti to an Entry Level Contract
The Winnipeg Jets have made a huge Monday morning announcement. The Jets have just signed Cole Perfetti. Here’s all you need to know about the contract.
Just over a month ago the Winnipeg Jets made their selections in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. With the tenth overall selection the Jets picked Cole Perfetti. Many fans were extremely excited by this pick, but the Jets had one more thing to do regarding Perfetti, they needed to sign him.
The Jets did just that today! They have tied up Perfetti on a three year entry level contract. The deal carries an average annual value of $1,658,333.
Perfetti had an absolutely outstanding season in 2019-2020. He played for the Saginaw Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League. He had 37 goals, 74 assists and had a +49 plus/minus in 61 games. He finished second in the league in both points and assists. In his two years in the OHL, Perfetti averages an impressive 1.49 points per game.
This is great news that the Jets have signed the eighteen year old. It will be interesting to see if Perfetti can have an instant impact and earn a roster spot for the upcoming season with the Jets.
Perfetti will be in Red Deer in a week’s time competing in Hockey Canada’s World Junior Championships selection camp. Perfetti will be going up against 45 other players from November 16th to Decemeber 9th competing for spots on the prestigious Canadian under-twenty team. Hopefully we will see Perfetti in late December representing Canada on the international stage at the WJC.
It will only be a matter of time before we see Pefetti in the NHL as a member of the Jets. It will be extremely exciting to watch his rise through hockey and he may be the next great name to play for the Jets organization.
