Winnipeg Jets: Where does Cole Perfetti fit in the Lineup?
Cole Perfetti has intentions to play with the Winnipeg Jets in 2021, but where does the first round pick fit into the lineup?
The Winnipeg Jets made big news earlier this week when they announced they signed Cole Perfetti to a three-year entry level contract. Many fans were excited by this news and Perfetti added to the excitment when he said, “my goal is to make it to the NHL as fast as possible.”
The big question is where would Perfetti fit on the Jets 2021 roster and depth chart?
As of right now, the Jets top two lines look set. The Jets have a combination consisting of Connor, Scheifele and Wheeler and the other consists of Ehlers, Statsny and Laine. With this being said the third line could be a potential landing spot for the highly rated prospect.
A solid lineup spot for Perfetti could be on the third line with Andrew Copp and Adam Lowry. Both of these players are established NHLers and play a fast, physical style. These two players seems like the perfect fit for a rookie to work himself in with.
Pefetti will provide speed and exceptional passing skills to this line and this could be one line that could catch many times by surprise and provide the Jets with secondary scoring.
One of the interesting things to note is the Jets still have not re-signed restricted free agent Jack Roslovic yet and they also need to find a place for him in the lineup. There has been no indication of what the Jets may do concerning Roslovic, but if he does re-sign and Perfetti performs well the Jets would have five solid options on the fourth line (Roslovic, Perreault, Thompson, Harkins and Appelton).
There is no telling of when Perfetti will make his impact in the NHL, but with a great training camp he could find himself suiting up for the Jets sooner than later.
