Winnipeg Jets: Ville Heinola Picks Up Three Assists in Big Win on Loan
In this Sunday loan report, we take look at Winnipeg Jets top prospect Ville Heinola and his great performance yesterday in Finland.
Earlier this offseason, the Winnipeg Jets loaned Ville Heinola to Rauman Lukko in Finland to get some valuable playing time before the start of the 2021 NHL season. Heinola has performed well to start the season and had himself another solid performance against Ässät yesterday.
The nineteen year old had three assists in Lukko’s 9-1 demolition job of Ässät. All of his helpers came in a span of fifteen minutes during the game and were all on the man advantage. The highlights of the game can be seen here.
Heinola is somewhat of the assist man for Lukko. In thirteen games this campaign he has zero goals and eight assists. He also has a +3 plus/minus. These are some great stats for Heinola, who had seven assists in 29 games last year with Lukko. Since October of 2019, Heinola only has one goal and it was his first and only NHL goal. It came with the Jets against Pittsburgh:
Hopefully, Heinola can find the back of the net soon, but these early season performances in the Finnish top division is something that should get everyone around the Jets organization excited about.
It is great to see Heinola already have more assists in Liiga games this year than he did all of last season with the club. He is obviously high rated with the Jets and hopefully he can make the jump to be a solid mainstay in the Jets lineup soon.
The next time we will see Lukko and Heinola back in action is on Tuesday against Kärpät. This should be a much tougher matchup as Kärpät have dynamic forwards Jesse Puljujarvi, Jussi Jokinen, and top rated prospect, Samu Tuomaala on their roster. This game should be a fun one to watch.
