The Winnipeg Jets made headlines at a New York Jets press conference, where one notable player had on a Winnipeg sweater.

It is always interesting to see where teams get their names from, how they got those names and how teams from two completely different regions in two totally different sports can share a team name. As we all know the Winnipeg Jets share their name with the New York Jets of the National Football league.

Last Friday at the NY pregame press conference prior to their matchup against the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver, Jamison Crowder was not his team’s apparel, rather he was wearing Winnipeg gear.

Crowder did his whole press conference in a Winnipeg home jersey. It does not look like he was wearing one of any specific player because there are no numbers on the side of the sweater. Regardless here is the picture of Crowder in a Winnipeg Jet jersey:

Unfortunately, New York went on to lose to Miami yesterday, by a scoreline of 20-3, and have yet to win a game this season (0-11). I agree with @JamieThomasTV this definitely is cool for fans around Winnipeg. Regardless of New York’s record they still have one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL and because of Crowder wearing the Winnipeg Jets thread, it is for certain many non-hockey people are now familiar with the Winnipeg Jets sweater.

Who knows, maybe at the end of all of this because of Crowder’s efforts, we may see more NHL Jets fans around the big apple.
