Winnipeg Jets: How is Arvid Holm Performing in Sweden?
Our next Winnipeg Jets prospect report comes from Sweden, where recently signed goaltender Arvid Holm is putting up good numbers on loan.
Back in June, when the NHL season was still paused due to the pandemic, the Winnipeg Jets made headlines when they signed Arvid Holm to a three year entry level deal with an average annual value of $873,333. The Jets originally drafted the six foot four goaltender in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Fast forward to late July and the Jets decided to loan the twenty-two year old back to his former club, Färjestad BK, who compete in the SHL. The SHL is the top division in the Swedish hockey pyramid. The loan mode made a lot of sense, send a young player to a club where he can contribute and get a lot of ice time and in return it should help his development.
In 2019-2020, en route to earning a contract with the Jets, Holm preformed extremely well with Färjestad. He posted a 20-10-0 record with a 2.27 goals against average and a .915 save percentage with one shutout.
So far this season, Holm has seen a slight decline in his statistical trends and has a .500 record, but by no means is performing subpar. In 13 games Holm has posted a 6-6-0 record, 2.70 GAA, .919 SV%, and a shutout.
It is great to see Holm is still performing well in the top Swedish league and he is one prospect the Winnipeg Jets will be keeping a close eye on. He has yet to make the jump to North America, but with great performances we could see him here soon playing in the Jets organization.
