Winnipeg Jets: Jack Roslovic Seeks Trade From Jets (Report)
The newest reports state that Jack Roslovic will not report to Winnipeg Jets training camp and he has asked for a trade out of Winnipeg.
The Winnipeg Jets are just over two weeks away from the puck drop of the first game of their upcoming season and training camp is scheduled to start on January 3, 2021. Before camp, the Jets still have one big name that they still have to re-sign.
That player is Jack Roslovic. The Columbus, Ohio native is currently out of a contract and is a restricted free agent for the Jets.
Mike McIntyre (@mikemcintyrewpg) first reported that Roslovic will not be at Jets training camp and then Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) followed up that report by stating that Roslovic has asked for a trade from the Jets.
This is stunning news that many people did not see coming. Mike McIntyre’s report stated that Roslovic either wanted a trade or a new contract and LeBrun followed that up saying that he wants a trade.
Roslovic was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The twenty-three-year-old played his first professional season (2016-2017) in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose and only appeared in one contest for the Jets. In 2017-2018 he split his time between the Moose and Jets. The past two seasons he played fully with the Jets.
In 2018-2019 Roslovic had nine goals, 15 assists, and had a -2 plus/minus in 77 games. Last season he did put up more points in fewer games when he had 29 points (12 goals and 17 assists) in 71 games.
Only time will tell what Kevin Cheveldayoff and the rest of the Jets front office will do with Roslovic. We could see the Jets re-sign Roslovic or we might see Roslovic head to another franchise in a trade.
