The Winnipeg Jets had an intrasquad scrimmage today and Trevor Lewis, who is attending training camp on a professional tryout, performed well.

For the first and only time throughout the week and a half training camp, the Winnipeg Jets had a scrimmage. The Jets split up their roster and had Team Blue faceoff against Team White.

Team Blue ultimately won the contest 3-2 and one of the best performers of the game was Trevor Lewis. Lewis came to Jets camp on a PTO and is trying to earn a contract with the Jets.

Lewis definitely helped his contract case with his performance today. Lewis played on a line with Nate Thompson and Jansen Harkins. This offseason, Thompson signed a one-year contract as a free agent for the Jets and Harkins signed a two-year deal with Winnipeg.

In today’s scrimmage, Lewis scored the first goal of the game and had an assist on Harkin’s game-winning goal.

Can Signing Trevor Lewis complete the 2021 Winnipeg Jets?

As we stated above, Lewis skated on a line today with Thompson and Harkins. Those three could makeup an extremely solid fourth line for the Jets.

When you take two veterans who know how to win and add Harkins’ physicality and youth, you have a perfect line to shut down the opposition and grab momentum for the Jets.

Even though these three players historically do not pick up many points, they do their job and are known for doing it efficiently.

Look at the New York Islanders. Their fourth line is made up of Casey Cizikas, Cal Clutterbuck, and Matt Martin and is considered one of the best in the NHL. The Jets should look to model their fourth line after the New York Islanders have because the Islanders have shown that it works.

The Jets can have a line extremely similar to what the Islanders have, with Lewis on it, and it will make the Jets a much tougher team to play against.
