The Winnipeg Jets are back in action less than 24 hours after their 6-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Tonight the Jets will be facing off against the Edmonton Oilers.

Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Central Time and this game will be the Jets’ second game of their current seven-game homestand.

Tonight starts a two-game mini-series for the Jets against the Oilers, with the final game of the series coming on Tuesday evening.

The Jets are coming into this game on a three-game winning streak. Winnipeg has played the Senators the past three and has won each matchup. The Jets’ last loss came against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, January 18.

The Oilers currently come into tonight’s matchup with a 2-4-0 record. Last time out, they lost to the Maple Leafs 4-2 in Toronto on Friday night.

Odds

The Action network lists the Jets as the underdogs in tonight’s matchup at Bell MTS Place.

The Jets offer a nice play in this one. Winnipeg has been playing great hockey as of late and are a tough team to beat. It will be interesting to see if the Jets defense can slow down the elite speed of the Oilers forwards.

This interesting matchup will make this showdown a great game to watch.

Projected Lineups

The Winnipeg Jets have looked solid over the past couple of games and Paul Maurice has been reluctant to change players in his lineup.

Going into the last game, Maurice and the Jets coaching staff only made two lineup changes. Kristian Vesalainen came in for the injured Nate Thompson and Dylan DeMelo replaced Ville Heinola on defense.

It is projected that the Jets will keep the same lineup as last night for tonight’s game against the Oilers.

The only change that is expected is that Laurent Brossoit will get the start over Connor Hellebuyck tonight. Helleybuyck stopped 18 of 21 shots faced yesterday and was awarded with the win against Ottawa.

The Jets are projected to lineup like this:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Vesalainen-Lowry-Appleton
Perreault-Harkins-Lewis

Morrissey-DeMelo
Forbort-Pionk
Beaulieu-Stanley

Brossoit (Hellebuyck)

The Oilers have kept a consistent lineup in this young season and it is projected to stay the same for this evening’s clash in Winnipeg.

Edmonton is expected to still be without star defensemen, Oscar Klefbom, and number one goaltender, Mike Smith. Both players are recovering from injuries and are on the injured reserve.

Mikko Koskinen is projected to be in net for the Oilers. Koskinen has played in every game for the Oilers in 2021 and has a 3.22 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

The Oilers are expected to lineup like this:

Nugent Hopkins-McDavid-Kassian
Kahun-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
Ennis-Turris-Puljujarvi
Neal-Shore-Archibald

Nurse-Bear
Russell-Barrie
Koekkoek-Larsson

Koskinen (Skinner)
