The Winnipeg Jets made an interesting roster move yesterday. The Jets moved Cole Perfetti from the Manitoba Moose to the taxi squad and subsequently moved C.J. Suess down to the Mantioba Moose.

Shortly after the roster transaction was announced, Perfetti got to take the ice with the Winnipeg Jets for the first time in his career.

This is big news for the Jets’ 2020 first round draft pick. Because Perfetti represented Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, when he came to Winnipeg after the prestigious tournament he was forced to quarantine and could not participate in the close of the Jets training camp.

Cole Perfetti could make his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets in the very near future

Calling up Perfetti to the taxi squad is an important move as the nineteen-year-old looks to suit up in the NHL for the first time. This move and then getting to practice with the Jets shows his debut may be on the horizon.

Perfetti is now getting a chance to get accustomed to the Jets roster and coaching staff. It will be interesting if Paul Maurice gets questioned about Perfetti in his press conference and how he responds. Maurice’s response will most likely be a good gauge on telling if Perfetti is close to making his debut or if it will take more time before we see him sporting a Jets jersey.

Only time will tell when Cole Perfetti will throw on the Winnipeg Jets uniform for the first time and make his NHL debut. It could come as soon as tomorrow when the Jets face off against the Vancouver Canucks at Bell MTS Place.
