We are finally here in the last weekend of January! Tonight is the Winnipeg Jets‘ eighth game of their 2021 season and the last game of the month of January as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at Bell MTS Place. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. central time.

The Jets have a little bit of rest coming into tonight’s clash. They have had three days off since they beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-4 on Tuesday night.

That win improved the Jets record to 5-2-0 and they currently have won two out of three games on their current seven-game homestand.

The Winnipeg Jets look to beat the in-form Canucks tonight in Winnipeg.

Even though the Canucks may have a .500 win percentage, they are coming off a three-game series where they swept the Senators and outscored them 16-3.

Vancouver have been a fun team to watch with their speed and skill. Look for them to play fast and try and push the pace tonight.

Odds

The Action network lists the Jets as the favorites in tonight’s matchup.

Given that the Jets have been playing great hockey as of late, it is no surprise that they are the favorites for this Saturday night game.

Vancouver is also on a great run of form winning their past three. Tonight should be a close game that should be close till the end.

Projected Lineups

The Winnipeg Jets are not expected to make any changes to their lineup that won Tuesday night’s game.

As shown by the tweet below from Mitchell Clinton of Jets TV, Tucker Poolman could be available tonight as he is off the NHL Covid protocol list. Since Poolman has participated in any team activities the past couple of weeks, he is projected to miss out on tonight’s contest.

Connor Hellebuyck is projected to get the start in net. He currently posts a 4-1-0 record with a 2.60 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

The Jets are projected to lineup like this:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Perreault-Lowry-Appleton
Harkins-Gustafsson-Lewis

Morrissey-DeMelo
Forbort-Pionk
Beaulieu-Stanley

Hellebuyck (Brossoit)

The Vancouver Canucks have kept a pretty consistent lineup the past three games. At most they made one or two changes for each of their games, and they are projected to keep a similar lineup to their last game.

Unfortunately for Vancouver at the early part of the season, they already have two players on the injured reserve. Those players are Jayce Hawryluk and Travis Hamonic. Both players are expected to still be sidelined for tonight.

Offseason acquisition, Braden Holtby is projected to start for the Canucks this evening while Thatcher Demko will be his backup.

The Canucks are expected to lineup like this:

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Hoglander
Gaudette-Sutter-MacEwen
Roussel-Beagle-Motte

Hughes-Benn
Schmidt-Myers
Edler-Chatfield

Holtby (Demko)
