The Winnipeg Jets are in Calgary tonight as they open a three-game set at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the Flames. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. central time.

This matchup also kicks off games in back-to-back days for Winnipeg and Calgary. These sides will meet again tomorrow night and then will finish this series on Monday.

The Jets are currently in the midst of their seven-game road trip. The trip did not start well as Winnipeg lost the opening two games against the Edmonton Oilers.

But fortunately, the Jets come into this game on a two-game winning streak after beating the Canucks on Monday and Wednesday. During their time in Vancouver, the Jets outscored the Canucks 9-1.

The Winnipeg Jets look to keep their win streak alive against the struggling Calgary Flames

The Flames have not been playing well as of late. They just completed a four-game road trip and although they beat the Maple Leafs in their first contest, they dropped the next three.

The Flames lost to Toronto once and then got swept in a two-game series against the Ottawa Senators. Calgary currently sits in sixth place in the North Division.

Odds

The Action network lists the Jets as the underdogs in tonight’s matchup.

It is a complete surprise to me that the Jets are the underdogs. They have looked strong in recent games and are within striking distance of first place in the division, while the Flames have lost four of their last five games.

It is interesting to note that out of the five times the Jets and Flames have played each other this year, four of those games have been decided by one goal and two of those games required overtime.

Projected Lineups

107. . 20-11-2. . Winnipeg Jets. 2. team

The Winnipeg Jets seldom make any lineup changes and after sweeping the Canucks, it is projected that the Jets lineup will remain the same for tonight’s clash.

With back-to-back games, it is projected Connor Hellebuyck will get the start tonight after his outstanding performance on Monday night. This means Laurent Brossoit will most likely start in goal tomorrow night.

The Jets are projected to lineup like this:

Stastny-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Dubois-Ehlers
Copp-Lowry-Appleton
Perreault-Thompson-Lewis

Morrissey-Poolman
Forbort-Pionk
Beaulieu-DeMelo

Hellebuyck (Brossoit)

112. . 15-16-3. . Calgary Flames. 6. team

Calgary is expected to keep their lineup the same as Wednesday night. The Flames look to be without Joakim Nordstrom and Brett Ritchie, who are both sidelined with injuries.

It is projected that the Flames will name Jacob Markstrom as the starter for tonight’s game. Markstrom has got the start in the last two games.  Calgary is in the same situation as Winnipeg and it looks like whoever backups today will start tomorrow.

The Flames are expected to lineup like this:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Dube
Tkachuk-Backlund-Mangiapane
Lucic-Lindholm-Bennett
Rinaldo-Ryan-Leivo

Giordano-Andersson
Hanifin-Tanev
Valimaki-Nesterov

Markstrom (Rittich)
