The Winnipeg Jets host the Vancouver Canucks for a two-game series at Bell MTS Place with game one tonight. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. central time.

Originally this series was supposed to happen in early April, but due to a Covid outbreak with the Canucks, these games were tacked onto the end of the season for the Jets.

Winnipeg is coming into this game after losing the first game of this four-game homestand to the Ottawa Senators 4-2 on Saturday night.

Luckily for Winnipeg, the Montreal Canadiens also lost on Saturday and the Jets still hold a two-point lead with a game in hand over Montreal for third place in the North Division.

It will be a battle of struggling teams as the Winnipeg Jets face off against the Vancouver Canucks

Just like the Jets, the Canucks have struggled recently. In their past ten games, they have a 2-8-0 record while only winning one in their last five.

Vancouver currently sit in last place in the division, and although they have the least amount of games played in the north, they have the lowest winning percentage among the Canadian franchises.

Odds

The Jets are the favorites in tonight’s matchup. Tonight is an extremely interesting matchup on paper, as both of these teams have played poorly and have identical records over their past ten games.

Projected Lineups

The Winnipeg Jets are expected to make two lineup changes for tonight’s game with both of the changes coming on defense. The first projected change is Logan Stanley will replace Ville Heinola on a pair with Jordie Benn.

Neal Pionk is also expected to come back into the lineup for Tucker Poolman. Poolman missed practice yesterday as part of a maintenance day and the Jets may hold him out tonight, so he can get more rest before playoffs.

On forward, the Jets may reshuffle some of their lines as they look to create more offense. Mathieu Perreault is projected to hop onto the second line with Dubois and Copp, while Stastny will move onto the third line alongside Lowry and Appleton.

Paul Maurice has already announced Laurent Brossoit as tonight’s starter and said that this move was planned. Connor Hellebuyck has started the past two games.

The Jets are projected to lineup like this:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Dubois-Perreault
Stastny-Lowry-Appleton
Harkins-Thompson-Lewis

Morrissey-Pionk
Forbort-DeMelo
Stanley-Benn

Brossoit (Hellebuyck)

The Cancuks had a hard fought battle on Saturday as they lost to the Oilers 4-3 in Edmonton. Although Vancouver lost, the Canucks are projected to go with the same lineup for back-to-back games.

Thatcher Demko is projected to get the start in goal after stopping 30 of 34 shots faced on Saturday.

The Cancuks are expected to lineup like this:

Hoglander-Miller-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Highmore
Michaelis-Graovac-Hawryluk
Vesey-Boyd-Lind

Edler-Schmidt
Hughes-Hamonic
Rathbone-Myers

Demko (Holtby)
