On this early Sunday morning, Winnipeg Jets prospect Cole Perfetti was in action representing Team Canada who was facing off against Italy at the 2021 IIHF World Championship in Latvia.

Canada was struggling at the beginning of the tournament, but have turned their fortunes around by beating Norway and Kazakhstan in their two most recent games as they seek a top-four finish in the group to advance to the quarterfinal stage.

In their game on Friday morning against Kazakhstan, Perfetti scored the game-winning goal to give Canada a 3-2 lead in the middle of the third period and Canada held on to win 4-2.

Currently, Canada is winning 6-1 at the end of the second period and the game can be watched on TSN in Canada and the NHL Network in the United States.

Perfetti’s goal today is his second of the tournament and he has yet to register an assist. Canada will finish their round-robin pool play on Monday, June 1, as they take on Finland. Puck drop for the Canada vs. Finland game is scheduled for 4:15 a.m. central time.
