As the Winnipeg Jets continue their run for the Stanley Cup, the Jets management team is already starting to assemble their organizational roster for next year.

Back in April of 2020, the Manitoba Moose made an interesting acquisition when they signed, undrafted, Jeff Malott from Cornell University.

Malott was a standout at Cornell. He was the captain of the Big Red in his senior season and scored six goals and amassed seven assists. Throughout his four-year collegiate career, Malott had 53 points in 114 games played.

This move made dividends for the Moose in the 2021 season as Malott lead the team in goals and finished third on the team in points.

The Winnipeg Jets have signed Jeff Malott

Just yesterday, the Winnipeg Jets announced that they signed Malott on a two-way contract for the 2021-22 season.

According to the Cap Friendly, Malott’s contract will carry a $780,000 average annual value throughout next year and his minor salary is $70,000. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the next season.

Malott, a native of Ontario, had an absolutely outstanding first professional season while applying his trade for the Moose. Besides leading the Moose with fourteen goals, Malott was also second among rookies in the AHL in goals.

The Moose’s number thirty-nine had a nice stat line of 14 goals, seven assists for 21 points, and +6 plus/minus.

Malott was also lethal on the powerplay and was tied with a team-high four powerplay goals in 34 games played.

The Winnipeg Jets start the second round of the playoffs tomorrow night against the Canadiens at Bell MTS Place. Check back to our site for more Winnipeg Jets playoff news!
