The Winnipeg Jets suffered a major injury blow before game one when it was announced that Paul Stastny would miss the game due to an undisclosed injury.

Fast forward to the end of game one, Mark Scheifele delivers a reckless hit on Jake Evans, the Jets lose 5-3 and Scheifele subsequently gets a four-game suspension.

Before game two, Paul Maurice indicated that Stastny was a game-time decision but when the starting lineups were submitted, Stastny’s name was omitted from the lineup sheet. That left the Jets without their top two centermen for the second game of this series.

Winnipeg had to reshuffle their lines and their lack of chemistry in game two was apparent as they failed to generate any offense in a 1-0 shutout loss.

The big news yesterday was that Stastny made the trip to Montreal and could be available for tonight’s game three as the Jets look to erase their 2-0 series deficit.

Winnipeg Jets center Paul Stastny will be listed as a game-time decision for game three

Stastny was a full participant at today’s morning skate and after the skate, Maurice said that Stastny will be a game-time decision for tonight’s game.

If Stastny returns tonight we will most likely see him centering Winniepeg’s first or second line. The Jets coaching staff will have the option to put Stastny between Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor or between Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrew Copp.

Stastny played well in the Jets first round series victory over the Edmonton Oilers. He contributed one goal and one assist including scoring the overtime winner in the second game of that series. His return in this series will definitely boost the Jets lineup.
