Today is the second game of Dave Lowry’s tenure as Winnipeg Jets head coach. This afternoon, the Jets host the St. Louis Blues at the Canada Life Centre. Rather than the usual 7:00 p.m. start time, the opening puck drop for today’s game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. central time.

Lowry made his debut as Winnipeg’s head coach on Friday night against the Washington Capitals after Paul Maurice resigned on Friday morning. Unfortunately, the Capitals played spoiler to Lowry’s debut by beating the Jets 5-2.

The St. Louis Blues come into Winnipeg on a two-game winning streak after taking both games from the Dallas Stars in a home-and-home series between the sides. Oddly enough, the Blues won both of those contests against Dallas by a 4-1 scoreline.

The Winnipeg Jets look to break their three-game losing streak this afternoon against the St. Louis Blues

This game is the last game of a three-game homestand for the Jets and they came into this homestand after losing a shootout to the Canucks. This homestand has not gone well for Winnipeg as they lost to the Sabres 4-2 and Washington 5-2.

Odds

The Winnipeg Jets are the underdogs in tonight’s game, courtesy of WynnBET.

As mentioned above, the Jets have struggled recently and St. Louis is currently on a seven-game point streak since December 4 (5-0-2). The Blues have also posted a great 7-1-2 record in their last ten games, while the Jets have been inconsistent with a 4-5-1 record.

These sides have met once prior during this season and that was back on November 9 in Winnipeg. The Jets outshot the Blues 41-33, but Jordan Binnington played outstanding and kept the Blues in the game. Ultimately, St. Louis won the contest in a shootout.
