Winnipeg Jets Place Two Players in COVID-Protocol
Although the Winnipeg Jets are on holiday break, they announced yesterday that two forwards and one support staff member were placed in the COVID-Protocol.
Those two players are Andrew Copp and Kristian Vesalainen, and the support staff member was not revealed.
Copp has appeared in all thirty of the Jets’ regular season games. He has seven goals and thirteen assists and a plus-seven plus/minus. Currently, Copp ranks in the top-five among Jets in goals, assist, points, and plus/minus.
Vesalainen has played in 26 games this season, which is a career-high for the twenty-two-year-old. He scored his first NHL goal on October 23 in a 6-4 win against the Nashville Predators. He then added another tally on December 3 in a crazy twelve-goal game against the Devils. He has yet to register an assist and has an even plus/minus.
Winnipeg Jets forwards, Andrew Copp and Kristian Vesalainen will be out the next 10-days
The Jets are scheduled to return from the holiday break on Monday, December 27 when they face off against, a Central Division rival, the Minnesota Wild at the Canada Life Centre.
The Jets have yet to announce any subsequent recalls now that Copp and Vesalainen are not available. Earlier this week the Jets sent Kristian Reichel and C.J. Suess to the Manitoba Moose after they both appeared in last Sunday’s 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.
David Gustafsson also missed that game due to injury, but was listed as day-to-day and looks set to be available upon the Jets’ return after the break. Therefore, if Gustafsson is available, the Jets will only call up one player from Manitoba.
