The Winnipeg Jets are back after a week-long layoff as they continue this long road trip to start 2022. Tonight, the Jets are in Detroit for a matchup against the Red Wings. The opening puck drop for this game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. central time.
This is the Jets’ fourth game of this road trip and with the Jets upcoming weekend games in Winnipeg postponed, the Jets are scheduled to play for four more games in a row away from home after this one.
Last Thursday, the Jets suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat to the Avalanche for their first loss of 2022. That now gives the Jets a 2-1-0 record in January.
The Winnipeg Jets look to get back to their winning ways against the Red Wings who are on a losing streak
The Red Wings have not had the best of starts to the new year. They have only won one of their four games in 2022 and are currently on a three-game losing streak. Detroit currently has a 16-16-5 record and sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 37 points in 37 games played.
Winnipeg Jets Lineup News
The Jets have added a number of players to the COVID-19 protocol including Nathan Beaulieu, Ville Heinola, Logan Stanley, Kristian Reichel, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Paul Stastny.
Dylan DeMelo and Jansen Harkins, who were both added to the protocol last week, have joined up with the Jets and will both be considered game-time decisions.
There is a chance that we may see two NHL debuts tonight for the Jets. Both Dylan Samberg and Declan Chisholm may be making their debuts this evening, but if DeMelo is available to play, we will only see one of these players come into the lineup.
Cole Perfetti is also projected to come into the lineup if Harkins is unavailable to play. Finally, Connor Hellebuyck is projected to start in goal for the Jets.
*After this article was published, Breden Dillon, Eric Comrie, and assistant coach, Wayne Flaherty were placed in the COVID-protocol. Therefore, both Samberg and Chisholm will make their NHL debuts versus Detroit*
