The Winnipeg Jets host the Vancouver Canucks at the Canada Life Center this evening with a 7:00 p.m. central time scheduled opening puck drop.

The Jets come into tonight looking for their first win since their January 13, shutout win over the Detroit Red Wings. Since then, the Jets have been winless in their past five games (0-3-2 record).

But the Jets are not the only team coming into this matchup who are struggling. The Canucks are on a losing streak of their own. They have lost their last three games (0-1-2 record) and have lost five out of their last seven games.

The Winnipeg Jets look for a win on home ice before returning to the road

The Jets had their first home game of 2022 on Tuesday night and, unfortunately, they lost to the Florida Panthers 5-2. Tonight is the Jets’ last home game of January and after tonight’s game, they will be back on the road for a two-game road trip before the league halts for the all-star break.

There are some extremely valuable points on the line in this game. Both the Jets and Canucks have 41 points and currently sit five points behind the Calgary Flames, who are in the second wild card spot. Calgary does have one game in hand on the Jets and four games in hand on the Cancuks.

Odds

WynnBET lists the Winnipeg Jets as the favorites in this evening’s game. Some may find this a troubling matchup for Winnipeg considering how the Jets have faired in their matchups versus Vancouver this season.

The Jets and Cancuks have met twice so far this season, with both of those games taking place in Vancouver and the Cancuks were victorious in both contests. The Cancuks won the November 19 meeting by a 3-2 regulation win and followed that up with a 4-3 overtime win on December 10.
